Comments on the A-Z Guide

These are some comments from readers of Open Fidelity - an A-Z Guide.

I’ve just finished your book (started reading it on the train and had to stop off at a cafe to read the whole thing!) I want to congratulate you. It really is a superb piece of work. I admit I wasn’t sure about the A-Z format before, but having read it all the way through I think it’s actually really good to have such a small, accessible, dip-into-able book on the subject. A lot of people would be put off by something bigger whereas this gives them enough to whet their appetite with some sound advice. It also looks beautiful! I’ll definitely be recommending it in my book (on relationships more broadly) in the chapter on fidelity.

I found it well-written, simple and effective. I did find it quite challenging in parts because of my own belief structures but found myself really holding up my own beliefs and questioning them - brilliant! You have made me question my thinking. I think this could be an incredibly popular and controversial book. It challenges one of society’s greatest belief structures - that monogamy is the best way.

I really enjoyed reading the book “Open Fidelity - An A-Z Guide” by Anna Sharman. I believe it will have an appeal far beyond the polyamorous community. It is a small book and easy to read quickly. Because it is short it opens up issues for debate and it forms a useful stepping stone to a more substantial book as a follow up - I believe that is in the plan.
I was a little sceptical of the A-Z structure of the book to begin with, but it does lead to some good and rather amusing chapters. I love the chapter on sleep (entitled ZZZZZZZZ).
Anyway, a thought provoking book that will initiate an important debate. It is a terrific read, and nicely timed to find it’s way into the stockings of all your friends and relatives this Christmas.

Well done on the A-Z book, I think it is great. It strikes a very good balance I think. It is warm, radical and gentle at the same time. A hectoring manifesto approach would have been very wrong, and you avoided the trap.

I’m really impressed with the book and how professional it looks. I really like the way you’ve done bite-size snippets of lots of very relevant concerns to do with the open fidelity, and at the bottom of each page there is also the “A is also for … see …” - that’s a really good idea. It’s all very thought-provoking.

I loved it all. I can think of so many people I’d like to share it with, including my fidelity person. And I love the witty indexing/cross referencing.
